A structured learning system for ADHD, autism, and neurodivergent students.

A structured learning system for ADHD, autism, and neurodivergent students.

After School Reading

Calm, Structured Daily Reading for Neurodivergent Students A gentle, predictable reading routine designed for ADHD, autistic, dyslexic, and sensory‑sensitive learners. Built around emotional clarity, picture previewing, and confidence‑building reading steps.

How the Routine Works

1. Settle & Preview (1–2 minutes)

A quick emotional check‑in and a preview of what the child will read.

  • “How are you feeling?”
  • “Here’s what we’re reading      today.”
  • “Let’s look at the pictures      first.”

This creates awareness and reduces anxiety.

2. Guided Reading (5–7 minutes)

You read together using gentle prompts:

  • Point to words
  • Notice patterns
  • Look for repeated sounds
  • Ask simple connection questions      (“What does this remind you of?”)

This builds connection.

3. Independent Try (2–3 minutes)

The child reads a small part on their own:

  • One sentence
  • One page
  • One short section

This builds execution and confidence.

4. Celebrate & Close (1 minute)

End with encouragement:

  • “You did great today.”
  • “You noticed patterns.”
  • “You stayed calm and focused.”
